Description
No. 19 Market Place is an early to mid-18th century building that stands three storeys tall. It is constructed of a mix of stucco, stone, brick, and timber, featuring rusticated quoins and a bowed front. Some timber framing is visible in the gable end on the right side, where the end of a bressumer over the first floor can be seen, along with a post that is visible under the plaster on the inside. The building has an old tiled roof with coped verges.
Notably, the small moulded and bracketed cornice previously mentioned has been removed, as has the principal feature of the front, which was an elaborate 18th-century clock. The facade is now plain, with two ranges of plate glass sash windows in flush moulded frames on the upper floors, and a simple early 19th-century shop front below. At the rear, there is a two-storey cottage that is positioned at right angles to the main building. This cottage has a mansard roof, a large chimney, and two irregular windows facing north. It, along with extensions from Nos. 11 and 13, creates a small courtyard behind Nos. 15 and 17.
