Description

Nos 14 and 20, along with a range of buildings at the rear to the south, which were formerly stables and maltings, are located on the south side of Warminster Market Place. These buildings date from the early 19th century and feature an ashlar front that has a slight setback to the right. No 20 displays a late 19th-century sign painted over the first-floor window. The buildings are three storeys high and have three ranges of glazing bar sash windows, with single hung windows on the second floor. There is a plat-band over the ground floor, a moulded cornice with an astragal below, and a parapet. Gable end chimneys are present.

No 14 features a moulded wooden strip above the plat-band and a modern plate glass shop front. No 20 has a small late 19th-century shop front with two windows, barley sugar colonettes, a recessed entrance, and arch braces in the heads of the windows. The two properties are separated by a wide coach entry with cobblestones. At the rear, there are three and two-storey extensions that create an irregular alleyway, which also includes extensions to the rear of Nos 22 and 24. The entrance to No 14 is in a two-storey building made of coursed squared rubble, which has a datestone inscribed "W.E" over "1825". The remainder of the alleyway consists of former stables and maltings that were built at different times.
