Description
Barclays Bank, located at Nos 32 and 34 in Warminster, is a building that likely dates from the mid-19th century. It stands three storeys tall and features a forward projection with No 36. The structure is made of stone, showcasing a rusticated treatment on the ground floor and an ashlar finish on the upper part, complemented by rusticated quoins. A moulded string course runs beneath the ground floor windows and the second-floor windows, while a moulded and bracketed stone cornice extends across the top, returning to both the left and right sides. The roof is tiled.
The building has two ranges of windows on the upper floors, each with architrave surrounds and a cornice supported by scroll brackets. The second floor features single hung glazing bar sashes, while the first floor has plate glass sashes with marginal glazing. The ground floor displays a three-bay bank treatment, characterised by Doric pilasters and a moulded cornice above the fascia. The return elevation to the west includes paired outer windows flanking a central window.
