Description
Payne's is an early 19th-century building located on the north side of Warminster Market Place. It has three storeys, with the upper part made of painted stone featuring rusticated angle pilasters, a fluted frieze, and a moulded bracketed cornice topped with a plain parapet. This upper section projects above the neighbouring roofs and includes portions of the pilasters, cornice, and parapet that return on each side. The building has a hipped old tile roof and two windows on the upper floors, while the ground floor has a modern shop front with glazing bar sashes. At the rear, there is a three-storey extension made of brick and small coursed and dressed rubble, with the second floor of its gable end being timber framed, dating from the early 19th century.
