Description

This building is part of a terrace of shops and offices on the south side of the Market Place. Dating to 1810, it shares architectural details with the adjacent numbers 72 and 74. The building is two stories high, constructed of red brick with flush stone quoins and a stone band above the ground floor. The first floor has three sash windows with glazing bars, each with raised surrounds and decorative keys. The stone cornice above the windows curves to the right and a rainwater head is marked "WL 1810." A parapet tops the building, and the roof is tiled with gable end chimneys. The ground floor now contains two modern shops and a doorway leading to number 72. A lower two-story extension forms the adjacent numbers 62 to 68, and there is a small yard at the rear of numbers 70 to 74. The building is listed for its contribution to the group value of the terrace.
