Description

Little Acre is a house dating from the 17th century, with later additions. It is constructed primarily of painted sarsen stone, with brick detailing, and has a thatched roof. The house is two storeys high and originally comprised five bays. The two bays on the left-hand side are of stone with brick dressings, featuring a gable lobby entry on the right, with a boarded door and a thatched porch. A 19th-century brick extension was added to the left, likely replacing a shorter stone outbuilding; this section is two bays wide and has a lean-to at its gable end. Leaded windows are found in the left section, while timber-framed windows are present in the later extension. The left side of the roof is hipped. A 20th-century two-bay extension exists at the rear, to the left end. The house is an example of a plan possibly derived from a longhouse.
