Description
Nos 24, 26, and 28 High Street are a group of three shops dating from the mid-18th century. The buildings are constructed of ashlar stone with rusticated quoins and feature a hipped roof covered in Welsh slate. They are two stories tall with an attic and have seven windows across the front.
The central doorway for No 26 includes a fanlight and a moulded architrave with a keystone that extends up to a moulded string course. To the right of this doorway is a blocked door adorned with a scrolled pediment on brackets. The rest of the ground floor has 20th-century shop fronts.
On the first floor, there are seven 12-pane sash windows, each set in moulded architraves with keystones that rise to a moulded eaves cornice. The roof features three flat-roofed dormers with casement windows. Despite the modern shop fronts, this block is recognized as a fine example of 18th-century architecture.
