Description

39 to 43 Herd Street is an early 19th-century rebuilding of older cottages. The building is L-shaped, with part of it being one storey and part two storeys with an attic. Nos 39 and 43 face the street, while the remainder is located in a wing at the back, which is accessed by a central passage. The structure features large coursed rubble stones with brick surrounds around the openings, and the southern half is entirely made of brick. It has an old tiled roof and two gabled dormers. The left side includes one two-light and one three-light casement window, along with a central 19th-century door. The right side, which is two storeys with an attic, has two gabled dormers, two three-light leaded casements, and a central two-light window on the first floor. The ground floor has similar windows with a 19th-century light, a central passage entry, and one house door. Overall, it presents a picturesque appearance.
