Description
Riverside consists of two semi-detached cottages, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. No 8 features a chequered pattern of chalk and flint, while No 7 is built from rubble stone with some flint and stone banding on the ground floor. Both cottages have thatched roofs with brick stacks at the gable ends. They are single-storey with an attic and have a total of six windows.
No 7 has a 20th-century thatched porch on the left, with a single casement window and two sets of two-light casements to the right, along with three eyebrow dormers featuring two-light casements. No 8 has a planked door in a gabled porch, with two-light casements on either side and another two-light casement in the right-hand bay, as well as three eyebrow dormers with two-light casements.
The right side of No 7 has a single-light casement on both the ground and first floors, showing evidence of an earlier lower roofline in the masonry. The rear of No 7 includes 20th-century leaded casements, a single-storey rear wing with 20th-century casements, and an extension with pantiles. The interiors were not accessible during the survey in March 1987.
