Description

This is a row of cottages dating to the mid-18th century, originally with shop fronts. The fronts are painted brick, with a projecting brick plinth, a decorative platband (a flat band near the top of the wall), and a brick cornice. Numbers 28 and 30 have a sawtooth detail to the cornice. The roof is tiled, with one chimney placed centrally along the ridge and another at the gable end to the right. Dormers are present, two hipped and two gabled, each containing a two-light casement window. The first floor has three sash windows on each side, with the two windows on the left-hand side being two-light casements and the right-hand window a paired sash. The ground floor has three three-light casement windows, each with a segmental head. Number 30 has a late 19th-century shop window and a door situated slightly to the right, with a corniced bracket. Numbers 24 and 28 have segmental heads over their doorways, while the platband is raised above number 24. Number 26 has a modern door within a rectangular frame.
