Cheese market, now town hall. 1847 by D.Jones of Bradford-on-Avon. Ashlar, hipped Welsh slate roof. Square. 2-storeys, 2:2:2 windows. Symmetrical front divided vertically by four wide pilasters. Central round-arched opening with imposts and recessed door up steps, either side is round arched opening with imposts and Diocletian sash windows with margin lights. String course. Two tall semi-circular headed sashes with margin lights and imposts to each of three first floor bays. Plain frieze and moulded cornice and blocking course with pediment over central bay with clock, stone bellcote on apex. Left return has two round-arched openings with Dioclectian sash windows with margin-lights and one blind arch either side. Plat band. Rear has same round arches with sashes to ground floor and plat band to first with two tall semi-circular headed sashes either side of central round arched window. Interior: good moulded doorcases, central stairs, ground floor committee room has fine oak panelling, carved door case and frieze with palmettes. (The Builder, 1847).
