Description
The Kings Arms Hotel is an inn that dates from the 18th to early 19th century. It features an L-shaped plan, with the left wing having an ashlar and Welsh slate mansard roof, while the right part has a rubblestone and stone slate hipped roof. The right section is from the early 18th century and has its main entrance on the left side, facing the street. It is two stories high with three windows. There is a wooden portico supported by columns, and the first floor has four-pane sash windows. The building has a moulded eaves cornice. The street-facing side on the right has a central door flanked by paired 12-pane sash windows, with three additional 12-pane sashes on the first floor and a continuation of the moulded eaves cornice. There are two hipped dormers with casement windows.
The left wing, built in the late 18th century, is two stories with an attic and has three windows. The door on the left features a semi-circular arched head with a keystone and imposts, and to the right are three pairs of 12-pane sashes set in beaded cases with a mullion. There is a plat band at the first floor level, with a central sash window flanked by pairs of sashes. The mansard roof has three flat-roofed dormers with sash windows. Attached to the left is a single-storey rubblestone wing that has a pair of 12-pane sashes, which are 20th-century insertions, and a carriage entry leading to the stable block at the rear left. At the back, there are attached wings made of rubblestone and ashlar with 20th-century windows, and the main range features projecting chimney stacks on the rubblestone rear. The interior has been altered.
