Description

The gate piers at the entrance to Place Road are from the 18th and 19th centuries and are made of limestone. The main piers are rusticated and feature a cornice with ball finials on top. The side piers have carved lozenge decoration on all faces, along with a moulded cornice and a pulvinated frieze. There are no gates present. These gate piers were originally part of the now-demolished Place House and were erected on this site when Place Road was laid out in 1864.
