Description
15 and 16 High Street are two houses that have been converted into a shop, dating from around 1860. They are built from limestone ashlar and feature a slate roof with tall ashlar stacks on the front slopes of the gable ends of No. 16. The buildings are designed in a classical style with double-depth plans.
The exterior of No. 16 has three storeys and a three-window range, with 6/6-pane sash windows set in raised surrounds, bracketed sills, and a blind window at the center of the second floor. A platband runs across to No. 15 on the right, which has raised surrounds and panelled aprons for its taller first-floor windows. The building is topped with a heavy cornice and blocking course, and features pilasters at the quoins and party wall. No. 15 is two storeys high and has a one-window range with a parapet above the platband, otherwise resembling No. 16. The interior has not been inspected.
