Description

Ashton House is a 17th-century timber-framed house, substantially altered in the early 19th century. It has a hipped thatched roof, a stack at the west end, and a ridge stack. The house is two storeys high. The ground floor has a timber frame built on a rubble plinth, while the first floor is roughcast with a moulded timber eaves cornice. Three first-floor windows have 12 panes each, with margin lights and exposed window boxes. The ground floor has a casement pair, and a pair of triple casements on either side of a 6-panel door, which is sheltered by a timber pent roof supported by brackets. The timber framing is square, with painted brick panels. A thatched rear wing extends to the northeast.
