Description

Maypole Farmhouse, now a detached house, was built in the 18th century and extended in the mid-19th century. The original core is constructed of header-bond brick, while a mid-19th century extension uses Flemish bond. The roof is tiled, and the stacks are of brick. Originally a 3-bay farmhouse, it now includes an integral outshut and later additions, particularly to the rear. The front facade is two stories high with a four-window arrangement. A central, gabled brick porch was added in the 20th century. Ground-floor windows are 19th-century cast-iron casements; first-floor windows are also cast-iron casements set within a three-brick plat band. A toothed brick cornice runs along the eaves. A mid-19th century bay matches the original house’s band and cornice details. The interior features chamfered beams with ogee stops. A two-span roofed extension was constructed around 1946 and is not considered to be of particular architectural interest.
