Description
The granary opposite Newholme is a building from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is timber framed and weatherboarded, standing on seven by three staddles, and features a thatched roof. The structure consists of three bays and has central opposed entrance doors along with pitching doors in the gables. Inside, there are jowled posts with curved braces supporting the ties, raking struts to the collars, and clasped purlins. The roof is half hipped at the ends and lined with boarding up to the bressumer level. This granary serves as an example of a smallholder's granary, designed for the storage of grain on the ear as well as threshed corn.
