Description
The north and west walls of Fox's Hospital, located on Church Road in Farley, date from the late 17th century. These walls, made of brick with stone copings, define the front garden of the almshouses along the road and extend along the west side. They feature an irregular polygonal plan with central gatepiers that face the Church of All Saints. The walls are constructed in Flemish garden wall bond and stand approximately 1.2 meters high, topped with weathered copings. There is a central raised band that sweeps up to the rebuilt gate piers, which are 60 centimeters high and adorned with moulded stone cornices, stops, and ball finials. The total length of the walls is about 77 meters, connecting to the west side wall of the almshouses garden, which is 2 meters high and features sloping brick and triple brick copings, extending approximately 33 meters and terminating at the south end with a coachhouse-stable.
