Description
This is a cartshed dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century, located on Church Road in Farley. It is constructed from 33cm chalk cob on flint footings, with some repairs in brick, and features a thatched roof. The structure has three bays and doors at the west end. Inside, there are tie beam trusses with raking struts that support collar beams clasping purlins, along with round pole rafters.
The side wall extends to the east, serving as a boundary wall for the garden adjacent to the road. This wall is also made of cob on flint footings and has thatched copings, standing approximately 1.8 meters high. It runs about 50 meters long, rounding a corner and ending in a double cob privy, which has been faced in brick. There are some later brick raking buttresses at the corner.
