Description

Silver Birch Cottage is an early 17th-century cottage located in Farley. It is constructed from timber framing with colourwashed brick noggings and features a tiled roof. The building is single storey with an attic and consists of two bays, originally designed with one heated bay and a second bay that has a gable entrance. There has been a 20th-century single storey extension added to the left side and further extensions to the rear, which now serve as the entrance. The cottage has timber leaded casements and two flush hipped dormers, along with a gable stack. Inside, the upper floor seems to have been inserted into an earlier framed structure, as noted in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments survey.
