Description
Hill Cottage is a row house dating to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed rubble, with dressed stone to the doorway jambs, wooden lintels, and has a steeply pitched roof covered in stone slates. A stone stack is located at the rear. The house has an L-shaped plan. The west front has two floors and two windows. The windows are 20th-century small-pane casements. A glazed door is positioned to the left. Inside, a ground floor room features an inglenook fireplace with a moulded stone surround and a circular newel staircase. The building is notable primarily for its 17th-century interior features and for its group value with numbers 32, 36, and 38 on the street.
