Description
Newton Cottage is a detached cottage located on the east side of Warminster Road in South Newton. The datestone on the right stack indicates it was built in 1679. The cottage is constructed from flint and limestone, topped with a thatched roof and featuring brick stacks, with the right stack incorporating some stone. It is two stories high and has four windows, all of which are casements. There is a 20th-century porch and door positioned to the right of the center, with two 2-light casements to the left and one 2-light casement to the right. On the first floor, there are three 2-light casements and one fixed window. The left side of the cottage has a shuttered attic window, while the right side features 20th-century casements and a dated stack. The rear of the cottage includes a 20th-century two-storey extension with a flat roof. Inside, the cottage showcases chamfered beams with ogee stops and exposed joists, as well as two open fireplaces with chamfered lintels and ogee stops.
