Description
Number 4 is a house with a shop that was rebuilt around 1800. It is constructed from rendered brick with ashlar coping and features a double Roman tile roof. The building has a double-depth plan, is two storeys tall with an attic, and has a one-window range. The gabled front has a coped parapet and includes a 20th-century shop front with glazing bars on either side of a central doorway, a fascia, and an ovolo string. The first floor has paired horned 2/2-pane sash windows, and there is a single 2/2-pane sash window in the attic. The right-hand side has a bowed shop window with glazing bars. A set of steps leading to a rear first-floor entrance was added around 1980. The interior has not been inspected. Additionally, there is a short length of rubble wall attached to the right return, which ends with an ashlar pier. The rear of this property connects with Nos 3 and 5 Gloucester Street.
