Description

Cowbyres and hayloft, built in the early 19th century, are located to the south of North End Farmhouse in Sopworth. The structure is made of squared and coursed rubble, featuring flush rusticated dressed stone quoins, wooden lintels, plank doors, and a double Roman tile roof on the inner yard side at the north end, while the rest has a stone slate roof. The cowbyres have square piers, and the hayloft is accessed by steps and has a gabled roof. The cowbyre range has half-hipped roofs at both the north and south ends. This building is included mainly for its group value with North End Farmhouse and its visual significance in the streetscape.
