Description
Three chest tombs located in the churchyard south of the chancel of the Church of All Saints date from the late 18th century and early 19th century and are made of ashlar. From north to south, the first is an unidentified late 18th-century monument featuring raised oval plaques on each side, flanked by fluted strips to the south and plain strips to the north, with baluster angles, a moulded base, and a cornice. The second is the Engles monument from the early 19th century, which has ornamented baluster angles, a moulded base, a ridge capstone, and two plaques on each side. The inscriptions commemorate J. Engles Sr, who died in 1830, and R. Engles, who died in 1840. The third is the Hibbard monument from the later 18th century, featuring two shield plaques on each side, a fielded centre, angle strips, a moulded base, and a cornice with a pulvinated frieze. It includes an inscription for Elizabeth Hibbard, who died in 1816.
