Description

Purton War Memorial is a First World War memorial built around 1920. It is made of limestone and features a four-stage stepped polygonal base. On top of this base is a square pedestal with broached corners, which supports a tall polygonal shaft topped with a Latin cross. The pedestal is adorned with a wreath carved in relief, while the stepped base includes a bronze wreath and the names of those who were killed in the Second World War. This memorial is a notable example of a First World War commemorative structure.
