Description
The Lodge is a building dating from 1892, serving as the lodge to Hartham Park. It is constructed of squared rubble and features a slate roof with low-pitched eaves supported by brackets. The building is one and a half storeys tall and has an 'L'-shaped plan, designed in the Italianate style to match the lodges built around 1850-1860 at Hartham and at Rudloe, Box.
On the west side, there is a cross-wing with a ridge stack and an open pedimental gable facing south. Above the ground floor canted bay window, there is a first-floor cross window. At the eastern angle, there is a Roman Doric porch with a single column, an entablature, and ball finials. To the right of the porch, there is a ground floor cross window with a plaque above it that reads "JDP" (J. Dickson Poynder) and indicates the year 1892. The east end gable mirrors the design of the south gable but features a square bay on the ground floor. There is a 20th-century extension to the north-west.
