Description

No. 82 High Street is a pair of houses that have been combined into one dwelling, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed of English garden wall bond brick with a pantiled roof featuring coped verges and rendered stacks. It is two stories high and has a facade with five windows across, arranged in a 2:3 pattern.

The entrance door has six reeded panels set in a chamfered stone case topped with a flat stone hood supported by brackets. To the right of the door, there are 16-pane sash windows on either side, while to the left, there is a blocked doorway with a 12-pane and a 16-pane sash window. The first floor features a three-brick plat band, with a 12-pane sash and a 16-pane sash to the left, and a combination of 16-pane, 12-pane, and 16-pane sashes to the right. The front of the building is divided by pilasters, and there is a plain blocking course at the roofline.

On the left side of the building, there is a single casement window on the ground floor and a four-pane sash with margin lights on the first floor. The rear of the house includes a planked door and a three-light casement window with a four-pane sash on the first floor to the right. There is a 20th-century two-storey wing and a 19th-century wing to the left, featuring four-pane and 16-pane sashes, along with a lean-to that has sashes and casements. The interior has not been inspected.
