Description
The Science Block at Marlborough College was built in 1933 by Professor W. G. Newton. This building features four two-storey laboratory wings that extend from a central core, which houses the entrance and library on the ground floor, and two interlocking lecture rooms above. There is a small wing to the east that now connects to a large new building. The construction is made of reinforced concrete with brick and block infilling, and the outer walls are concrete with careful shutter marks and exposed aggregate. The flat roof has eaves with an iron railing, and large, multi-paned, metal-framed windows. At the center of the roof, there is a simple cupola of 18th-century style.
