Description
The fountain located to the south of the Orangery at Wilton Park dates from around 1822-1825. It is made of ashlar and features a circular basin adorned with lions' masks at each cardinal point, along with pierced decorative carving in between. At the center of the fountain stands a lead statue of a grinning cymbal player, likely provided by Austin and Seeley between 1842 and 1851, positioned on a plinth with dolphins at the corners. Steps leading from the terrace to the fountain are flanked by parapets that each have a sphinx on them.
