Description

This is an 18th and 19th century terrace of cottages located on Harnham Road. The terrace is composed of twelve cottages, numbered 2 to 14 (even), and is arranged in three symmetrical groups, though with slight variations in design. The cottages are two storeys high. Nos 2 and 4 are constructed of red brick and flint in banded panels. Nos 6 and 8 are of red brick with grey brick headers, and have a brick dentil eaves cornice. Nos 10, 12 and 14 are built with a chequer brick pattern, sit on a raised plinth, and feature a moulded eaves cornice and drip moulds over the windows. All cottages have common gable ends with old tile roofs. Some have casement windows and others have sash windows. The central cottage, No 8, has two casement windows, each of three lights, with shutters on the ground floor, and a central door. No 12 features iron-framed casements. All original doors are plain, except for that of No 6, which has a small flat hood.
