Description
70 and 72 High Street is a house that was formerly two separate dwellings, built in the early 19th century. The building at No. 70 features coursed limestone rubble and a 20th-century tiled mansard roof. It has a single-depth plan with a rear extension, is two storeys high, and has a one-window range. The right-hand side has a 20th-century door with timber lintels, a ground-floor horned sash window with margin panes, and a two-light casement window on the first floor.
No. 72 is also two storeys tall and includes an attic, with a two-window range. It has a segmental-arched brick head above the right-hand doorway, which contains a 20th-century door. The ground floor features a wide 12/12 pane sash window with a timber lintel, and there are two mid-19th century two-light casement windows on the first floor. A small attic window is present in the right-hand gable. The interiors have not been inspected. Currently, Nos. 70 and 72 are occupied as a single unit and share a roof.
