Description

This house, now a restaurant, dates from the 16th or 17th century, with alterations in the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of limestone rubble at ground floor level, with a timber-framed first floor, now rendered and painted. The roof is covered in stone slates, with a stone ridge and brick stacks to the gable ends. The building has a two-unit plan and a rear wing to the right, forming an L-shape.

The roof over the left-hand range projects forward above a jetty. This jetty has an 18th-century moulded frame supporting a 19th-century four-pane sash window at eaves level. Below this is a canted bay shop window with two rows of seven panes to each sash. A 20th-century door is located centrally. A horizontal sliding sash window to the right has three rows of five panes, and above it, a smaller horizontal sash window on the first floor has nine panes. A bracketed gutter runs across the front. The interior is not accessible.
