Description
The Black and Hill monuments are two early 19th-century limestone tombs located in the churchyard, approximately 5 to 8 metres south of the tower of the Church of St Andrew in Collingbourne Ducis.
The first monument is a pedestal tomb featuring a flat corniced table and raised corner pilasters, set on a base and surrounded by iron railings. It commemorates Daniel Black, who died in 1812, along with his wife Dionysia and other family members.
The second monument is also a pedestal tomb, which has a hipped top adorned with acroteria and is set on a two-stage moulded base. This tomb is dedicated to Harriett Sophia Hill, née Pain, who died in 1865.
