Description
The shelter shed at Chapel Field Barn is an early 19th-century structure designed for sheep. It is built of English bond brick and has a pantiled roof. The shed features twelve bays, with ten of them open-fronted facing the fold yard to the north. The two bays closest to the road are partitioned off and closed, likely used for carts. The south wall has no windows, while the open north front is supported by wooden posts with padstones. The west gable end, which faces the road, is also open. The roof has a shallow pitch and includes collar and tie-beam trusses, with the soffits of the tie-beams cut away to maximize the roof height. This shelter shed is part of a notable group of 19th-century farm buildings located on the south side of the yard opposite Chapel Field Barn.
