Description

Kings Farmhouse is a timber-framed farmhouse dating to circa 1600, with alterations from the 17th century. It has a pantiled roof with stone slate eaves and stone and brick stacks. The building is arranged in a T-plan. The west front, which has two windows, features a 19th-century canted bay with casements, a blocked doorway to the main range, and a single 2-light casement window on the first floor. The cross wing to the right has a 3-light ovolo-mullioned casement with a hoodmould on the ground floor, a 3-light oriel casement on the first floor, and carved bargeboards with pendants. The left return side of the farmhouse has a 3-light and a single-light casement window to the ground floor, and two 2-light casements to the first floor. At the rear, an outshut projects to the right, while the main range has a planked door and a 3-light ovolo-mullioned casement with a hoodmould, along with single-light casements on the first floor. The rear of the cross wing has a 3-light ovolo-moulded oriel casement, and the south front of the wing has a 4-light ovolo-mullioned casement. The interior was inaccessible during a survey in July 1986, but likely contains a through passage to the rear of the hall stack, now with blocked doorways.
