Description
The two monuments in the burial ground of the former Baptist Chapel are chest tombs dating from the late 18th century and early 19th century. They are made of limestone. The eastern tomb features two panels with grooved borders, quarter balusters, and pilasters, along with carved drapery on the center panels. It has a fluted coved cornice and a moulded flat top, with an inscription commemorating James Francis, who died in 1795. The western tomb has two panels on the main sides, with a center panel displaying carved drapery, fluted pilasters at the corners, and a fluted frieze on the flat top. The east side of this tomb has a large central panel surrounded by carved drapery, with an inscription for Ann Frowd, who died in 1812. The 18th century Baptist Chapel was demolished in the 20th century.
