Description
Meadow Court is a house built around 1630 and 1730, constructed from brick and stone with a stone slate roof. The front block, which faces the street, has three bays and features a central wide stair hall flanked by reception rooms. There is a rear link to an earlier parallel rear block made of stone and topped with a stone tiled roof. The front elevation is designed in Flemish bond brick and is two stories high with seven bays. The central three bays project slightly forward and are topped with a plain brick pediment. The central doorway has a broken pediment that includes an urn on console brackets, and it features a six-panel door. The windows are 12-pane wood sashes, set beneath a stone panelled entablature and cornice. The parapet has recessed panels made of contrasting brick. Inside, there is a well-designed open stair in the hall and a panelled dado. The reception rooms are fully panelled and have panelled shutters on the windows. There are 20th-century additions at the rear, and the quoin of an attached building is inscribed with "LEVAVI/OCULOS."
