Description

Blundells is a detached house dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of dressed limestone with a tiled roof featuring gable end brick stacks and coped verges, forming an L-plan layout. The building is two stories high and has three windows across the front. The central entrance features a chamfered doorcase with a 20th-century door and an early 19th-century trellised tent porch. To the right of the door, there is a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement, while to the left is a three-light ovolo-mullioned window. On the first floor, the right side has a three-light recessed chamfered mullioned casement, the left side has a three-light ovolo window, and the center features a moulded flush mullioned casement. There is a buttress with an offset top on the right side. The right return includes a two-light mullioned casement in the attic, a four-panelled door, and four-pane sash windows on the right return of the wing. The rear of the house has ovolo-mullioned casements in the main range. Inside, the property boasts deep chamfered beams, an open fireplace, and an 18th-century moulded stone fireplace surround with a wooden cornice. The unusual dog-leg stairs feature 18th-century moulded handrails and balustrade, along with a dog-gate adorned with St Andrew's cross panels.
