Description

No. 38 High Street is a building that dates from around 1840 to 1850. Originally two houses, it has been converted into one shop. The structure is made of colourwashed brick and has a slate roof. It stands two storeys high and features six bays. The entrance to the dwelling is centrally located within the left three bays, consisting of six fielded panels topped with a basket-arched lintel. The windows are twenty-paned sashes with gauged flat brick lintels above them. The building has moulded dentilled brick eaves and gable stacks. The ground floor of the right three bays has been altered to accommodate a 20th-century shopfront, but the upper level remains intact.
