Description

No. 55 High Street is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of diaper brick and has a slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has three bays. At the rear, there is a central hall that leads to a stair and flanking reception rooms. The entrance features a five-panelled door topped with a half-round fanlight. The windows are four-paned plate glass sashes with gauged flat brick lintels. Gable stacks are present, designed to resemble Venetian windows that light the attic, which includes 16-pane sashes. The flues rise on curved shoulders, and there is a large stair window at the rear.
