Description

The Chantry is a house dating to circa 1870. It is constructed of red brick with blue brick banding and has a patterned tile roof. The house comprises two storeys and two gabled bays, with an inset gabled porch leading to a through stair hall. The front door is boarded and has false iron hinges. The porch features a steep gable with an open truss supported by pierced brackets. A miniature gable is present at eaves level. The windows are diamond lattice casements with cambered lintels constructed of red and blue bricks on stone springers. The roof has spiked ridges, and there are ribbed gable stacks. Inside, the house has moulded door frames and wooden fireplace surrounds. A cornice is found in the right-hand room, and the hall features ovolo moulded ceiling joists. A further block is set back to the right, with a half-hipped gable. A rear extension is also present.
