Description
No. 16 Fisher Street is a house built between 1750 and 1775. It has a stucco exterior with some areas where the original finish has been blocked out, and it features a hipped slate roof with end stacks that have rendered shafts, with the left end stack projecting. The house is three storeys tall and has a symmetrical three-bay front with coved eaves.
The central gabled timber porch has a richly-moulded open pediment and a round-headed outer doorway that includes a large fanlight with spider's web glazing bars. The front door is a fine example from the 18th century, featuring four fielded panels at the top and diagonal fielded panels below, along with a three-pane overlight. The porch has plain panelled hinged sides with 20th-century benches attached.
On the ground floor, there are paired 12-pane hornless sash windows, and the first floor has similar outer windows with a 12-pane sash in the center. The second floor features three 6-pane sash windows. The interior has been partially inspected and includes marble chimneypieces and a moulded arch between the front and rear left-hand rooms, with the potential for other interesting features to be present.
