Description

The Hermitage is a house dating from the 1830s, situated close to the church. It is constructed with a plastered exterior and has a slate gabled roof, with stacks featuring rendered shafts and cornices. The building comprises a main block, one room wide, with a rear service wing at right angles and a secondary service wing alongside.

The garden front is symmetrical, with three bays on the ground floor and a single-storey wing to the left. Deep eaves characterise the exterior. The ground floor features three French windows, the central one a 20th-century replacement, all with margin panes. The first floor has two 12-pane sash windows on either side, each accompanied by a cast iron balcony with anthemion decoration, and further supported by secondary timber brackets with roundels. A round-headed window is centrally positioned on the first floor, potentially a converted niche. A parapet and French window are visible on the single-storey wing to the left. A lean-to conservatory with lapped glass sits to the right.

The interior retains original joinery.
