Description

The Jubilee street lamp is a cast-iron lamp standard dating from 1887, originally erected on the Strand in Torquay to celebrate the Jubilee. It was moved to its current location in 1978. The lamp features a pink polished granite base and is richly ornamented, with a floral frieze on the cast-iron base and dolphins twisting around the standard. It has a lamp box topped with a finial, and a plaque notes the lamp's relocation. Despite being resited, it remains a particularly fine example of its kind.
