Description

Two ranges of outbuildings are located to the north-west of Ilsham Manor Oratory. These structures likely date back to the 15th century but have undergone significant alterations in the 20th century. They are constructed from local grey limestone rubble and feature pantile roofs. The longer range to the north is believed to be the remains of the tithe barn associated with Ilsham Grange, although its central section has been demolished. There is also a smaller building at right angles to the barn, which has been converted into a classroom. The outbuildings are primarily single-storey and two-storey, with the barn range having low walls that are partly rendered and a 20th-century roof, lacking any obvious original openings. The classroom range includes a set of 20th-century windows. The interior of the barn was partly inspected but showed no clear ancient features. The site holds considerable archaeological interest.
