Description
This building, known as No. 1 Market Street, is a house that likely dates from the early 19th century. It features solid rendered walls, with some exposed painted stone rubble on the right side wall. The roof is slated and hipped at the front, and there is a rendered chimney on the rear wall. The building is deep and narrow-fronted, situated on an island site that forms the south side of Pring's Court. The rear part of the house is narrower and set at a slightly different angle; according to a description from 1975, this section was originally two cottages. An unnamed lane runs alongside the left side of the house.
The house has two storeys and is one window wide. The ground storey includes a late 20th-century six-panelled door, and above it is a two-light 19th-century wooden Yorkshire sash window, with each light containing six panes. The left side wall has seven plain sash windows and a smaller wood-framed window with a single pane of glass. There are no openings in the right side or rear walls. This building is part of a group with the well-preserved Nos 1-6 Pring's Court.
