Description
St John's House is a house that was formerly part of a terrace on the site of St John's church, dating from around the 1820s. The building is plastered with a roof that is concealed behind a parapet and features a stack with a rendered shaft and a platband.
The house has a double-depth plan, one room wide, with an entrance located on the right side. It stands three storeys tall and has a symmetrical two-window front. The ground floor has round-headed windows, with the right-hand window reglazed as a French window. There are two 12-pane sash windows on both the first and second floors, with the first-floor windows featuring Venetian shutters, although one is missing. A verandah supported by fluted posts runs across the front, though the balustrade has been replaced.
On the right side, there is a round-headed doorway with panelled reveals, a six-panel door, and a fanlight that has spoke glazing bars. The interior, which has been partially seen, includes decorated plaster cornices and joinery.
