Description

The building at 34 High Street dates to around 1800, though the underlying fabric is likely older. It is a three-storey building of red brick, with the ground floor painted. A plinth runs around the base, and there are horizontal band courses above the ground and first floors. Stone lintels mark the first-floor windows. The second floor has three ranges of single-hung glazing bar sash windows. A depressed archway on the right side has stone impost blocks and a key stone, giving a view towards the south porch of St Michael’s Parish Church. To the left of the archway is a shop window and a shop front with a central door. The rear of the building is constructed of stone. This building possesses group value, contributing to the character of the High Street.
