Description

Lushill House is a country villa that was likely built around 1797 and later modified. Originally three storeys, it was reduced to two storeys during a Victorian enlargement. The house features ashlar stonework with a band above the ground floor and chamfered quoins, as well as a parapet with moulded coping. The central section of the building is balustraded and flanked by urns, and it has a concealed slate roof.

The east front has three bays with a slight break in the centre, showcasing glazing bar sash windows. The central first-floor window features a moulded architrave, while the ground floor side windows have moulded architraves and cornices. A central solid portico with a tripartite pillar arrangement and a glazed doorway replaces the original Ionic portico, which is now located on the north front. The north front retains a two-storey bow with a balustraded parapet on the left, which was replicated in 1965 on the right side, along with a three-bay section that includes a four-column Ionic portico in antis taken from the garden front. The rainwater heads are marked with a "B" for Barker. The 1965 alterations were designed by architect Tom Bird. Inside, the house features a pleasant Georgian pastiche with an oval top-lit stair hall, and the south-east room retains its original decoration.
